• In the 2000’s, 90% of stress incontinence procedures were mesh-
based midurethral slings
• Advantages:
– Shorter operative time
– Quicker recovery
– Good results
– Applicable to almost all patients: obese, low leak point pressures,
elderly, stress predominant mixed incontinence, severe incontinence,
concomitant prolapse
