OBJECTIVES AND OUTLINE
By the end of this session participants will:
• Be introduced to the concept of anti-oppressive practice
• Be aware of the ways in which the practice and profession of medicine has been
complicit in upholding forms of oppression, using racism as the primary example.
• Have reflected on the biases we are left with and how we react with fragility when they
are exposed.
• Be aware of the language and terminology that is being used by the Dalhousie Faculty of
Medicine to better describe the complex and dynamic approaches to equity, diversity,
inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA) in 2023.
