Electrical Phase: Electric Arc

                                 • An electric arc starts as an electrical breakdown in a

gas and gives raise to a current flowing through a

normally nonconductive media, such as air.

                                 • The electric discharge occurs when the voltage exceeds

the critical limit of the insulator

                                 • An electric arc can be sustained steadily only by an

                                      appropriate voltage
