7Rodney Breau Chair, Guidelines Steering CommitteeOttawa, ONGuidelines ReportThe CUA has committed to a long-term plan of revamping its guideline portfolio. The goal is to improve efficiency and consistency, while providing an end-product that is clinically relevant, but also methodologically sound. As such, we are aiming to use GRADE methodology across the board for any CUAdeveloped guidelines. To support this endeavor, CUA hosted a Guidelines Workshop one day prior to the Annual Meeting in Victoria, where members of the Guidelines Steering Committee, along with those identified as potential guideline authors/panelists, met to review the overall direction of the CUA guidelines, as well as to learn more about GRADE. The half-day session, led by Dr. Philipp Dahm, the Coordinating Editor of the Cochrane Prostatic Diseases and Urological Cancers Group and a founding member of the US GRADE Network, and Dr. Philippe Violette, a leading Canadian expert in clinical epidemiology, included a brief introduction to GRADE (i.e., What is it and why do we use it?), as well as an interactive session on developing key clinically relevant guideline questions. Presentations also dove into the importance and assessment of systematic reviews and how a panel moves from evidence to recommendations. It was a very informative afternoon that we hope will set the stage for an easier transition to this new process. The entire workshop was recorded and will be posted on UROpedia shortly for anyone interested in learning more. Since 1945cua.org/uropedia
