Medications Notes / Diagrams:
You will be prescribed a mild painkiller, usually
acetaminophen with codeine (e.g. Tylenol #3™)
when you leave the hospital. Use this as required.
Codeine may contribute to constipation.
Acetaminophen (regular e.g. Tylenol™) can be used
for lesser pain.
You should be able to continue with your usual
medications. If you have any questions contact your
doctor.
Aspirin, arthritis medications and blood thinners may
increase the risk of bleeding after surgery. Follow your
doctor’s instructions with regard to resuming these
medications, if applicable.
Contact your doctor if:
• You develop a fever
• You develop a discharge from the incision
• You develop spreading redness of the skin
around the incision.
