Antimuscarinic Mode of Action
• All antimuscarinics
1. The efferent connection of the pelvic nerve is
inhibited due to anticholinergic action resulting in
relaxation of bladder smooth muscle.
Propiverine and Oxybutynin
2. In addition, propiverine and oxybutynin inhibit the
calcium influx and modulates the intracellular
calcium in urinary bladder smooth muscle cells
causing musculotropic spasmolysis
