Dr. Naveen S. Basappa
Dr. Basappa is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of
Oncology, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, University of Alberta. He
has been on faculty since 2010 and is currently the Genitourinary
Cancers Tumor Group Lead of Northern Alberta.
Dr. Basappa obtained his MD at the University of Alberta. He
subsequently trained in Internal Medicine at the University of Toronto and
then went on to complete subspecialty training in Medical Oncology at
the University of Alberta. He followed this up with an Experimental
Therapeutics Fellowship with a focus on Genitourinary Cancers at
Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, USA.
Dr. Basappa's research interests focus on the management of
genitourinary malignancies, including kidney, bladder, and prostate
cancer. He actively conducts clinical research in the field of
genitourinary malignancies and is the co-chair of the Canadian Kidney
Cancer information system and an executive member of the Kidney
Cancer Research Network of Canada.
