Overall Clinical Background
Castration still remains the basic foundation of therapy in advanced
prostate cancer, 80 years after its initial report by Huggins and Hodges in
1941.
However, survival in advanced disease has improved significantly in the
last decade owing to treatment intensification earlier in the course for
the disease.
