LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Assess the data for stone free rate for a 1cm lower pole stone after SWL
  • Assess the non-stone free factors that influence SWL as a modality for a 1cm lower pole stone, including patient preferences, contraindications
  • Review the current guidelines for the management of Lower pole stones
  • Examine the recent literature on treatment success comparing RIRS to SWL and PCNL
  • Discuss tips/tricks using RIRS to improve treatment success
  • Compare outcomes of PCNL to other approaches
  • Highlight patients where PCNL may be your first line option
  • Discuss progression of miniaturization
